ERADICATING POVERTY OUT OF OKERE THROUGH FAMILY FARMING
THE FLAGSHIP 10 YEARS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OF LAWYER ISAAC MINTA LARBI

Lawyer Isaac Minta Larbi is not just a lawyer but a well studied and a knowledgeable person who is development oriented and knows how to turn things around using tailored solutions.
He is also a commercial farmer and owns a plantation farm at Asifaw in Okere.
Okere is one of the very poor constituencies in Ghana and the high level of poverty is due to so many factors.
Whilst I have different policies to tackle all the reasons creating poverty in Okere, one of the major Policies I want to introduce is large scale farming in Okere through what we call Family Farming.
This policy is designed to eradicate poverty out of Okere through a 10 YEAR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM using the Flagship project of Family Farming.
In many parts of the world it is farmers who are rich and this is so because the kind of farming they engage in is designed to eradicate poverty from the society and to make farming a business that can turn life around.
It is this same method I intend implementing to drastically change the lives of the people of Okere in order to eradicate poverty in Okere.
The flagship program is to use para rubber plantation farming and coconut plantation farming as the lead tree crops to spearhead the project.
However, other crops such as mango, palm nut, etc would be encouraged as long as people are interested in going into plantation agriculture.
I have began the discussions and talks are already advanced in securing the rubber company to begin work in Okere and the plan is to get the rubber company to fully sponsor up to 500 people a year for the next 10 years.
That should give us 5,000 people that would be moved out of poverty in Okere in the 10 Years Development Program.
It is expected that the government of the day would also support a minimum of additional 500 people per year which would add up to a minimum of 10,000 people of Okere moved out of poverty.
I would ensure that we get a similar number of people investing in coconut which should also give us 10,000 Okere citizens into coconut farming.
That should amount to 20,000 people that would be moved out of poverty within the 10 years Development Program.
With 20,000 people out of poverty the net results would be the almost complete eradication of poverty out of Okere because all these families would have enough to spread the wealth everywhere in Okere.
And this is just from only two tree crops of rubber and coconut. If other people are supported to invest in palm nut, mango, etc we could double our wealth up to 40,000 people within 10 years.
Family Farming is when family members are supported to farm a particular product over time such that every member of the family owns a portion of the farm and by having his own he can have his own money which is enough to move him out of poverty and with everyone in his family richer, no one in the family is left poor.
A father, son, daughter, mother, cousin, uncle, auntie, etc all in the same family are supported and sponsored by the government or company to own their own portion of farm.
With as little as 3 acres to about 10 acres of land for the farming, the farmer would be supported by the government or company who provides the seedlings, weedicide, farm inputs, fertilizer, plus even extra money to pay for farm hands such as labourers etc.
This kind of support will continue for 5 years until the crops fully mature where then the government or company deducts a percentage of your returns to recover the support given to you over the 5 year period.
With this policy the farmer does not use his own money for the farming but each farmer becomes wealthy for the rest of his life and beyond when he starts harvesting.
This is a great tool to totally eradicate poverty out of Okere and I’ll lead that charge.
This is what many advanced countries have done and I’ll do same for Okere when I become the next MP for Okere Constituency with your vote.
My Mission is to do all in my power to eradicate poverty in Okere and to demonstrate to the people of Ghana that it is possible to eradicate poverty through good policies of good politicians like myself.
Under my leadership Okere Shall Rise Again.
