OUR HISTORY

The people of Okere are a very distinct and defined group of people. We are very unique and the first tribe to settle in Ghana before any other tribe came to join us in Ghana. For this reason we should be the one telling our story and telling everyone their stories too. Unfortunately it is our visitors who are writing books and telling us our story.

This is not good and this needs to change urgently. I will put a team together to research our history and put it into its proper place. Because we have allowed others to tell us our stories, our stories always seem to be distorted. Honestly, the more people look down on you it’s a sign you don’t know your true history. If you lack the self confidence, it’s a sign you’ve lost your true history. If you cannot fight for good things for yourself, it’s a sign you have lost yourself. The confidence you don’t have today is because you don’t know your true history.

I would ensure that our story is told to the whole world and the history we didn’t have about ourselves growing up we will give it to our children.

It is time we do proper research and come out with our own stories and teach our children our true history. The people of Abiriw have a rich story yet to be told. The People of Dawu have a rich history full of chiefs yet to be told. The People of Awukugua have a very rich history including stories of Okomfo Anokye yet to be properly told and in full. The People of Adukrom, Apirede, Abonse, Aseseeso all have stories which are rich and must be told properly and documented.

When we do this Okere will begin to grow stronger and powerful again.

LEADERSHIP

The Kingdom of Okere can do better and we must do better. We are the first occupants in Ghana before any other tribe came to settle in Ghana but we have allowed all other tribes to go past us in everything. We lack enough professionals capable of changing our destiny as a people.

Things need to change. We need to show that we too are capable of leading in Ghana and in all aspects of Ghana from DCE to MP to Minister to President. We must look out for our people who are competent and support them to the highest heights possible so that with power we too can change things for ourselves. This is what the other tribes have been doing forever. Power is always in the hands of other tribes consistently and always. We must push our people to go get power too. So many things need to change and improve about Okere. I’ll lead the process to ensure that the people of Okere are giving the necessary special development that would improve us to the highest height possible in the country.

DEVELOPMENT AND JOBS

Now we have roads, and electricity even in our rural areas. Now that we have roads and electricity it means we can have factories and industries. Those who have led us from 2000 to now have done their part. It’s time to push others to also go get power to move Okere to the next level where we would attract investments and jobs. We have gone past the days when everyone must move to Accra or Tema to find jobs.

Our duty is to make Okere Great and we can only do that when we have leaders who are prepared to go the extra mile to push Okere to the next level. Now that we have our own district again, this is the time to focus on ourselves and develop Okere to the highest level. We must have our own TV, we must have our own FM station, our own banks, push for industries and factories to be set up.

Indeed our location makes it easy to travel to Tema port for export because of less traffic than it is to move from Accra to Tema port. We can provide cheap labor for the companies that set up here. I will lead the process for this drive.

IMPROVED SCHOOLS

We need to improve our schools and elevate them to higher standards comparable to any school in Ghana. We must take steps to get a University in Okere. We must have additional Secondary Schools and Vocational Schools in Okere especially in Downtown Okere which I call North Okere but it takes a committed person from Okere who has power to do all these things with the support of the chiefs and elders of our various States such as Abiriw, Dawu, Awukugua, Adukrom, Apirede, Abonse, and Aseseeso.

We can’t do all at once but we must start from somewhere. We need to move beyond roads and electricity and go for industries, factories, schools, proper environment, large farms for plantations. We have the land for all of these facilities that we need and we have the chiefs and the people to support these projects. All other tribes are fighting for good things. It is time we also got someone to lead us to also go fight for all of the above for us.

FARMING

Okere is mainly a farming community. Whilst we wait for the time when the industries and factories can kick in, we will ensure that our farming is heavily improved.

Indeed I have a Flagship Program of using Para Rubber Farming to eradicate poverty from Okere. Details shall be provided subsequently in a working document.

Coconut farming is also one of the major farms to be encouraged in Okere District to ensure that many people are moved out of poverty.

Cassava Farming which is very popular in many areas would be provided with the needed support to ensure that those who are into cassava farming earn a better living than they are doing now to improve their lives tremendously.

SMALL LOANS

The Government of Ghana always makes money available to support small scale businesses in terms of grants and small loans. Unfortunately the people of Okere hardly access any of these facilities because of leadership problem.

We hardly have leaders who go the extra mile to ensure that the people of Okere are made a part of those who are able to access these small loans..We need someone who would ensure that the good people of Okere are always taken care of and made to access these resources and the lack of such a good leader has contributed over time to the extreme poverty in Okere.

My mission would be to lead Okere to access these resources so that whoever is interested can benefit from it. Our mothers and sisters especially need these to improve their businesses to be able to support their husbands to pay school fees, hospital bills, etc

Okere can only be better with a Great Leader.
